Google review QR Code: how to get more reviews

23 October 2026 · 5 min read

Happy customers rarely leave a review on their own: not because they do not want to, but because searching for your listing on Google, finding it and opening the form takes too many steps. A QR Code that opens the “Write a review” window directly removes almost all the effort: scan, pick the stars, write two lines, done.

1. Get the review link from Google

  1. Sign in to your Google Business Profile (the listing that appears on Google Maps and in Search).
  2. Look for the “Ask for reviews” button (or “Get more reviews”).
  3. Copy the link Google offers: it is a short address that opens the review form directly.

Before going on, open the link on your phone and check that it opens the right listing, with your business name.

2. Create the QR Code

  1. Open the Google review QR Code generator and paste the link.
  2. Customize colors and logo if you like, keeping good contrast.
  3. Add a frame with a call to action, for example “Enjoyed it? Leave us a review”.
  4. Download the file as SVG or PDF for printing and test it with your phone.

A dynamic QR Code is worth it: if one day you change listing or want to send people to another page, you change the destination without reprinting, and in the meantime you see how often it is scanned.

3. Where to put it

  • At the right moment: when the customer has just been pleased. At the table after the meal, at the till, on delivery.
  • On the receipt, and on the thank-you card inside parcels.
  • At the counter or reception, on a clearly visible table tent.
  • In emails confirming an order or saying thank you, as a clickable image.

The usual printing rules apply: at least 3-4 cm on a table tent, dark on light, matte finish. You can find them all in the guide How to print a QR Code that always scans.

4. How to ask (without breaking Google’s rules)

Google has precise rules on reviews, and breaking them can lead to reviews being removed or to restrictions on your listing. In practice:

  • Do not offer rewards in exchange for a review: no discounts, freebies or prize draws.
  • Ask everyone, not only the customers you think are happy.
  • Do not write reviews on behalf of customers and do not have employees or friends write them.
  • Ask simply and sincerely: “If you enjoyed it, a review helps us a lot”.

5. Afterwards: reply to reviews

Replying to every review, including critical ones, shows readers that the business is present and attentive. A short, polite reply to a negative review is often worth more than ten positive ones.

The most common mistakes

  • Using the listing link instead of the write-a-review link: the customer has to hunt for the button.
  • Placing the code where nobody stops, or too small to be noticed.
  • Not saying what happens when it is scanned.
  • Offering a discount in exchange for the review.

Frequently asked questions
